Saturday 17th – Sunday 18th October — All Day

Step into a world of gears, goggles and grandeur at Steampunk Goulburn for a two-day event, where Victorian imagination meets industrial innovation at the Goulburn Historic Waterworks. Travel through time as it never was and experience a vibrant retro-futuristic festival featuring working steam engines, spectacular costumes, live music, roving entertainment, markets, food and activities for all ages. Highlights include:
Costume parade
Live music and main stage entertainment
Roving performers and characters
Vintage games and activities
Sword fighting demonstrations
SteamWorks Creative Program workshops (free with entry, bookings required for some activities) This project has been assisted by the Australian Government through the Festivals Australia program.

Steampunk-themed markets and food vendors Catch the shuttle bus from the Civic Centre in Clifford Street, as on-site parking is limited. Accessible parking, toilets and support services will be available. Don’t miss the Steampunk Banquet at the historic Goulburn Brewery. Banquet tickets close 9 October. Windellama Hall Markets are held on the third Sunday of every month, except for January, and a special Christmas Market event in December. There are plenty of stalls selling homemade jams and preserves, pre-loved toys and tools, locally produced honey, bric-a-brac, various plants, gourmet foods, wooden toys, skincare products and everything for sewing enthusiasts. Home-cooked hot food, freshly ground coffee and refreshments are available, together with fabulous cupcakes and sweet slices with plenty of parking available and disabled access.

Hockey has been played in New South Wales since the early 1900s. The NSW Men’s and Women’s Hockey Associations were formed in 1908, followed by the NSW Junior Hockey Association in 1960. These Associations eventually merged in 2004, forming a single administrative entity, known as Hockey NSW. Today, Hockey NSW comprises 27 Associations and approximately 30,000 registered hockey players in regional and metropolitan NSW. The player base represents men, women, boys and girls ranging from five years of age in introductory programs to players aged over sixty-five in Masters Programs. Hockey NSW is even prouder of the fact that hockey can be considered the only true family game. Competitors will be travelling from Nepean, Parkes, Illawarra, South Coast, Sydney, Dubbo, Grafton, Bathurst, Port Macquarie, and Newcastle as well as local Goulburn teams. The Markets on Bourke have a range of market stalls with lots of local goodies to be found. Everything from local arts, and crafts, produce, plants, fresh flowers, live music and great food can all be found throughout the stalls at the hugely popular Markets on Bourke. On the fourth Saturday of the month (the third Saturday in December and not held in January) the Markets on Bourke are held in the Goulburn Scout Hall on the corner of Bourke and Addison Streets. No matter what you are looking for you will be spoilt for choice so make sure you are at the Scout Hall so you don’t miss out!

Southern District Cricket Zone Plan B Women’s Competition is on in Goulburn on the 14th & 15th of November 2026. Teams from Greater Illawarra, Riverina and Western, including the Southern Districts Team will be in attendance with T20 Format Games on at 3.30pm and 7pm on both days. Step back in time to the 1880’s when Goulburn was one of the first regional centres to supply piped drinking water to its residents. The Goulburn Historic Waterworks has remained intact with a pumphouse and working steam beam engine. It is located in an idyllic setting on the banks of the Wollondilly River. This rare facility is the only complete, steam-powered municipal water supply left in its original location in the Southern Hemisphere. The buildings and engines are of national significance and are now protected by a permanent conservation order. The Institution of Mechanical Engineers are presenting the Engineering Heritage Award to the amazing staff and volunteers for all the ongoing work and care that goes into the operation of the magnificent Appleby Bros Beam Engine on show at the Goulburn Historic Waterworks. Come and witness the spectacle of these magnificent pieces of machinery in operation for the Steampunk Victoriana Fair 2023. Take a tour of the Pumphouse Museum and historic Waterworks. See the 130-year-old Appleby Beam Engine and Hick Hargreaves Corliss Valve Engine under steam. Bring your own for a picnic by the river and the children can play in the playground.
